For one week, from Sunday, September 14 to Saturday, September 20, 2025, around ten refrigeration technicians from seven African member associations of U-3ARC participated in a training course at the University of Karlsruhe in Germany. The seminar, which is part of the U-3ARC-IIFIIR Memorandum of Understanding, allowed them to participate in the final phase of the SOPHIA Project, managed by IIFIIR and the University of Karlsruhe in Germany, and funded by the European Union.
On Wednesday, September 17, 2025, U-3ARC delegates, currently on mission in Germany, in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding between U-3ARC and IIFIIR, will receive their certificates or diplomas of competence in various specialties, namely Refrigeration, Water, Solar Thermal… Mr. Madi Sakandé and Mr. Adlain Eyarmwen, respectively President and Secretary General of U3-ARC, will attend the ceremony. These refrigeration technicians participated in the final phase of the SOPHIA project, managed by IIFIIR and the University of Karlsruhe in Germany, and funded by the European Union.
These approximately nine refrigeration technicians, from Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Malawi, Uganda, the DRC, Tunisia, and Zambia, benefited from three to four days of training. Following the closing of the seminar, which took place between Wednesday, September 17th and Thursday, September 18th, and featured several sessions on the various training topics, as well as upcoming EU-funded calls for projects for Africa, private financing, women in cooling, financing via the carbon market… a field visit is planned for Friday, September 19th, 2025, to the Bitzer compressor plant.
