Nigerian professionals in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (RAC) sector, united within the Niger Refrigeration Professionals Association (APFN), are continuing their activities. They recently held their Annual General Meeting (AGM) on December 31 in Niamey. Theme was upon "Restructuring the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Sector in Niger." Mr. Ibrahim Ali Barga, the outgoing President, informed us of these latest developments on January 1, 2026. During the discussions, which focused on this crucial topic for the development of the RAC sector in Niger, members reviewed the APFN's financial and activity reports. Outgoing President confirmed that the activity report had been approved. He and his team were granted a discharge for the financial report. In his opinion, discussions, conducted in accordance with the bylaws, led to the election of some members of the National Bureau, including the President. Following this General Assembly, a significant moment in the association's history, he announced that Mr. Abdourahamane Kimba had been elected National President of the APFN. His term will last three years. On the day of the General Assembly, in addition to the President, the elected members were Mr. Abdoul Aziz Issa Yacouba, Vice-President; Mr. Mamane Abdou, Secretary General; Mr. Abdoulwahab Harouna, Secretary for Organization; and Ms. Mardiya Addou Issoufou, Treasurer. It should be noted that on the day of the AGM, newly elected President Kimba was unable to attend. He was represented by Mr. Ramane Abdou.
In accordance with APFN Regulations, the remaining members of the Board will be elected on Sunday, January 17, 2026, if candidates come forward, we were told.
A mandate focused on growth
If we are to believe President Abdourahamane Kimba, his program will be based on several key areas. First, he and his team will work to make social cohesion a reality in the refrigeration sector in Niger. Simultaneously, the National Board will strive to raise awareness of the APFN among government officials, both in the public and private sectors, particularly businesses, traders, service providers, etc. Furthermore, the new team, at the head of the APFN, intends to roll up its sleeves to develop the refrigeration sector through training and awareness campaigns. President of the APFN assures that "all future actions will bear the hallmark of the U-3ARC, and they will continue to inform the public about the objectives of this Pan-African Union, U-3ARC."
Best of luck to the new team at the helm of the APFN!
